I wanted to drop a quick note welcoming everyone back to Preston Old Road for the 2023 season. Whilst it is sad to no longer see those who we sadly lost during the winter; it is always a warm feeling seeing our members back at Cherry Tree CC sat along the white wall watching their match of choice as we approach the summer.
Cherry Tree CC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The Club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the Club should always show respect, be encouraged to be always open and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the Club. My ask is that we are all custodians of example behaviour as members of Cherry Tree CC.
With over twenty kids currently registered, our All Stars kickstarted again on Thursday 12th May. It was pleasing to see several light blue tops hitting the field, enjoying some batting, and bowling practice, with a game of heads, shoulders, knees, and ball thrown in for good measure!
The season is up and running and we have made a bright start for all of our Senior teams. There have already been some unexpected results in the Ribblesdale Cricket League which suggests 2022 could be an interesting year.
Whilst I think we are in a stronger place than most local clubs, I keep banging the drum that we require more adult and junior players. If you can help with any recruiting, then please do. Early season availability has caused concern and I wouldn’t want this to impact our strong start but if we can add more players to our membership, this should not be a concern going forwards.
Our ground looks good with a thank you to Elly, Jonny, Toby & Bill (to name a few) for their hard work. We remain on the lookout for assistance in terms of making our ground look fantastic so please come forward if you can help in any capacity.
We are currently exploring purchasing a new scoreboard with various options available to us. I’d like us to be able to invest in a solution that ‘future-proofs’ our scoring solution recognising that replacing the existing scoreboard is long overdue.
If you have any feedback, please reach out to Tricia Hadfield our Club Secretary on tricia952000@gmail.com
Let’s keep up the momentum on and off the pitch. Have a great spring and let’s hope this summer brings some hot weather!
Yours sincerely,
Dan Logan
